Networks at Herts

We have three staff networks dedicated to women, providing an informal and safe space where staff can be themselves and discuss issues/challenges of specific interest that have an effect on them at work.

Our Menopause Network seeks to develop awareness and understanding of menopause, perimenopause and other menstrual changes.

Our Academic Women Action Group (AWAG) and our Network of Women+ Professors encourage equal gender representation across the academic spectrum, and hold an annual Women Rise conference with inspirational speakers, information on opportunities and routes to progression, and staff sharing their own stories and experiences.

For students, Herts SU’s Women's Student Network is open to all that self-define as women students, and is a safe space for women to share experiences, discuss common issues like sexual harassment, period poverty, feeling safe on campus and much more. The network is also a place to feel empowered to lead on campaigns that affect women within our community. We also provide support through our dedicated Student Wellbeing and Student Harassment, Domestic and Sexual Misconduct Service teams and work collaboratively with a network of gender-based charities.

The session is aimed at all staff, including line managers, to look at how neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD can present differently in women and girls, and how wellbeing can be impacted both inside and outside the workplace. We’ll look at ways we can support ourselves and each other whilst celebrating our differences.
