UH Arts + Culture and Art: Sci Research Lab are thrilled to present a group exhibition exploring how artists and scientists can work together, identifying where there is space to co-create new understanding and connecting diverse areas of study.

The exhibition follows six artists’ journeys through their practices as they explore ways in which meaningful cross-disciplinary collaborations can be achieved with both human and non-human partners. The exhibiting artists are Heather Barnett, Emma Critchley, Hannah Dargavel-Leafe, Alexa Wright, Sam Jury and Rob Godman.

The exhibition brings together a range of different artistic practices and ways of working - from slime mould investigations to underwater ecosystems and Tourette’s Syndrome. Each artist immerses themselves in their subject matters, whether in labs, fields, or operating rooms, working closely with their collaborators to learn each other’s "language" and to create something new. Through their own diverse projects, the artists explore contemporary issues where our understanding of how to be human in a landscape of multi-layered issues – including new technologies and environmental change – is needed for joint thinking and reflection.

Ultimately, this exhibition suggests that a deeper understanding of our own humanity is only possible by uniting various disciplines, and with more than human collaborators.
