University of Hertfordshire first for overall student positivity in the East of England for the second year in the National Student Survey
The University of Hertfordshire has performed strongly against the higher education sector in the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS) and ranks first, for the second year, for overall student positivity among universities in the east of England*.
The NSS is an independent survey conducted by the Office for Students that gathers final year undergraduate students' opinions on the quality of their courses. Around 350,000 students responded nationally.
The majority of Herts’ positivity scores exceeded the average for the higher education sector, in some cases considerably, and they also improved on most of the University’s own scores for the previous year.
Herts’ positivity scores for the categories for organisation and management, student voice, assessment and feedback and for mental wellbeing, considerably outscored the mean average for the higher education sector generally.
Professor Mairi Watson, Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Hertfordshire, said:
“These arestrong results. We are proud that our hard work and commitment to student experience has been recognised again. What our students say and think about us is important feedback because it helps us to understand how we are doing seen through their eyes.
“A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to contribute to these results and to those who helped promote the survey to our students. It’s rewarding to see that our students themselves have appreciated all the work that has been carried out to help them achieve their goals.
