The Cadogan Charity
The University of Hertfordshire is currently undertaking a four-year research project joint with the Royal Veterinary College, funded by a grant from the Cadogan Charity. It is titled Achieving more sustainable British beef and sheep food systems in a changing environment, and is headed up by Dr Barbara Haesler at the Royal Veterinary College and Professor David Barling at the University of Hertfordshire. The project’s main aim is to investigate how ruminant production and marketing systems can maximise quality food production and economic viability, while promoting sustainable land use and management including environmental and antimicrobial stewardship.
The overall objective is to identify public policies and private sector strategies to enable sustainable livestock production and marketing systems that provide reasonably priced products that are profitable and equitable across the food value chain, in the post Brexit agricultural and food policy context.
