Career Success

Bioengineer and entrepreneur Chika is the CEO and Founder of Greymate Care, an online platform that connects elderly people with professional caregivers in Nigeria. She has made an enormous impact in the digital healthcare market, creating jobs for over 1,000 young people, and she now plans to expand across Africa. Chika says, 'Making life easier in Africa is something I'm passionate about.'

Chika's business acumen and industry knowledge was gained at Herts. She says, ‘My course was delivered using a problem-based learning approach where we tried to solve problems using real-life scenarios as case studies. Our modules were different from other universities and covered all the areas within the sector.'

Chika founded her career ambition with business development and sales, and she worked for companies such as Amazon UK and Guinness before setting up her own business. She has won numerous awards including a She Leads Africa Accelerator award in 2017, and she is also listed in the Forbes 30 under 30 trailblazers for 2019.

Advice for other students

'You have the best recipe for success as a University of Hertfordshire alumni. Just go for it, the world is your oyster! It's okay to mistakes. Fail forward, get better, rinse, repeat.'
