Career Success
Lulu Davis had always held an ambition to work in the music industry, and whilst studying Music and Entertainment Industry Management at Herts she saw a gap in the market to represent independent artists. She soon established Incendia Music, a rock and metal music management and publicity business before she graduated in 2013, and her successful business has grown in this competitive market since then.
Lulu was part of the inaugural Music Managers Forum (MMF) Accelerator Programme sponsored by YouTube, which helped to support the growth of her management career.
Other achievements include being one of Music Week’s list of ‘Rising Stars’ for 2018 and being longlisted in Music Week’s 30 Under 30 in 2016. Lulu was also spotlighted as a #FemaleBoss with leading recruitment company CV-Library, and has delivered sessions to other aspiring businesswomen in the music industry. This includes involvement with Abbey Road Studios for their ‘Day of the Girl’ event, BBC Introducing Live events, and speaking at the Global Rock Summit in 2016.
Herts Memories
Lulu was attracted to Herts as the course was taught by lecturers who were active within the music industry. She says, ‘I knew that the University of Hertfordshire was the right place for me to study. The course and the opportunities it offered would give me the foundation I needed to enable me to succeed.’
‘Herts has also got a great campus and location, being close enough to London so that I could commute to music gigs.’
‘Many of my modules later become paramount to my company's success and having the knowledge of marketing, publishing, and law, for instance, has definitely helped me navigate my way through a challenging industry.’
