Make the most of your volunteering experience

Alumni updating their contact details

Register your interest in becoming an Alumni Ambassador

Please register your interest in volunteering via your personal profile on your Herts Alumni Portal. This will ensure we have all your up-to-date contact details so we can contact you about relevant volunteering opportunities which are of most interest to you when they arise.

Student feeling empowered

Choose how you'd like to get involved

Alumni Ambassadors is a voluntary programme, we'll invite you to take part in the most relevant activities. You'll be volunteering on a non-employment basis for which you'll have no formal duties and is unpaid. If you have conditions to the way in which you can work, please check how volunteering hours may impact these before agreeing to an activity.

Embrace our values

At Herts our values are ‘Friendly, Ambitious, Collegiate, Enterprising and Student focused’. These values underpin everything we do and how we communicate. We celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and actively seek Alumni Ambassadors who represent all our communities. We expect our Alumni Ambassadors to also uphold our values and EDI principles when volunteering.

Two people shaking hands in agreement

Be prepared

You must feel fully prepared to deliver your volunteering activity. If you're asked to do something which you can’t do or is outside of your skill set, please tell us so more support can be offered, or a replacement can be found. Please be punctual and if you're no longer able to take part, please let us know at the earliest opportunity.

Communicating for safety

Feel supported

If you are unsure of something or if you're asked a question that you're unable to answer, please refer to a member of University staff. Please let University staff be the conduit for any communications you have with participants outside of the event or activity you are taking part with.
