Making lifelong friends

After completing her bachelor’s degree in India, Eden wanted to continue her studies in law. Herts’ reputation in legal education stood out to her, so she decided to find out more about the University. Eden says, ‘The advisor I spoke to at Herts went above and beyond. They provided me with all the details I asked for and I knew then that Herts was the right choice for me.’

Eden didn’t know it at the time, but on her flight from Mumbai to the UK she would meet a coursemate who would become a lifelong friend. Eden says, ‘We found out that we had mutual friends and lived in the same city. It was fate! Once we arrived at Herts, we learnt that we were assigned to the same accommodation, and we instantly bonded over our joint experience of studying in a new country. Herts isn’t just a place for studying, it’s a place for making lifelong friends too.’

Whilst at Herts, Eden took part in many extracurricular activities to complement her studies. She enrolled on programmes led by Hertfordshire Law School that covered restorative justice, family mediation and how to be a detective, and she was a Student Representative. Eden was also part of a team that organised a multicultural event at Herts that included dancing, musical performances, and a fashion show, and she was awarded a Dean's Award for Outstanding Community Impact for her efforts.

Eden’s most cherished memory at Herts was graduation, where she was awarded a first-class distinction and a Gold Go Herts Award for her impact on improving the Herts student experience.

Her career and advice

Eden is now a Legal Compliance Officer for Orcalo Holdings. She believes her time at Herts boosted her confidence and taught her key legal research skills, which have been useful to her current role.

Eden asks Herts students to aim high and push themselves. She adds, ‘Make the most of your time at Herts by getting involved, expanding your knowledge, and pursuing opportunities that match your career aspirations. Failures happen, but don’t let them hinder your journey.’
