Letter to support a UK Visa application for a Graduation Ceremony

If a Visa is required for you or your guests to enter the UK for a Graduation Ceremony, you can request a letter during your registration to support the application.

We will provide you with an electronic letter on our headed paper to confirm that you are eligible to attend and are entitled to bring at least 2 guests. When the letter is issued, we will not know if you may be given the opportunity to purchase ballot tickets through the random ballot. Therefore, we include a sentence in your letter to reflect this.

Where and when will the letter be sent?

When you register to attend the Ceremonies, you will be asked if you require a letter to support a Visa application.

Visa support letters will be sent via email to the address on your Student Record. We do not email Visa Support letters directly to the place where you are applying (eg Embassy, local Visa Application Centre etc).

Visa support letters will have your address printed on them. This address will be your home address on your student record. Please, therefore, ensure your home address is correct and updated.

We have a 3-5 working day turnaround for Visa Support letters.

Guest details

The names of your guests will not be included in the Visa support letter. It is your responsibility to write a letter formally inviting your guests to visit you in the UK, confirming their names and any other details required for the Visa application.

You may reprint your Visa support letter for the amount of Visa applications you are supporting.

Further Information

Beyond providing you with a Visa Support letter, the Exams and Awards team cannot advise on Visa applications.
