South Hatfield Community Memories

On 19 May 2012 the Instant Oral History Team attended the annual South Hatfield Fete held at the High View shopping centre in Hatfield.

Interviews were conducted 'in the field' as people wandered around the stalls enjoying the day.

Memories were recorded on how South Hatfield’s communities had changed over the last fifty years, responding to the demise of the aeronautical industry and the growth of the University on its doorstep.

Conditions were challenging for oral history recording, with a lot of background noise, so some recordings have been edited.
