Applying for a Hertfordshire Internship
As a postgraduate offer holder or new student, you have the opportunity to take part in this fantastic experience, and undertake an online internship with a real, global company during your time studying at Herts.
What is a Hertfordshire Internship?
- online voluntary internship with a real-world role within a global organisation.
- 15 hours per week for 8 weeks.
- certification and company reference upon satisfactory completion.
Eligibility criteria
These voluntary internships are for postgraduate students who are studying at the UK Hatfield campus, and offered on a first come, first served basis. Places are limited for our January intake. Please speak to your local representative for more information. You must also meet the following criteria;
Current applicants for Semester B, January 2025:
- you need to be an offer holder for January 2025.
- you need to have paid your deposit in full.
- you will need to be registered and in the UK studying, by 20 January 2025.

Stage 5 - Start your internship
You will be supported through all the steps above and kept informed of what you need to do next to progress with your internship. The above process will take around 2 months from start of application to start of internship, depending on when you submit your application.
If you undertake a Hertfordshire Internship it will count towards your 20 hours per week student visa working restrictions. If you do the internship during term time, you need to abide by the 15 hour a week work limit that all Hertfordshire students are required to adhere to when working in roles associated with the University. This is to ensure you maintain a good work, study, life balance.
