Semester B accommodation discount
The University is pleased to be offering a £500 discount for Semester B (January 2025) accommodation bookings across all de Havilland rooms and Townhouse rooms on the College Lane campus.
Terms and conditions
- A £500 discount (“Discount”) is being offered to students commencing occupation of certain types of University accommodation in Semester B, on or after 2 January 2025, subject to the student meeting the conditions and eligibility criteria set out below.
- The Discount shall operate as a £500 reduction in the student’s accommodation Licence Fee which shall be applied to the last £500 of the Licence Fee. The Licence Fee payable will be set out in the Accommodation Summary. The Licence Fee, the Licence Period and Accommodation Summary are defined in the Student Accommodation Licence Agreement.
- The Discount will either
- be applied to the final £500 of the student’s last instalment payment, in the form of a credit note and set-off against the student’s outstanding balance; or
- will take the form of a partial refund (to the value of £500) paid by the University to the student, where the student has paid the accommodation Licence Fee in full and there is no outstanding balance on the student’s account.
- Where the Discount is a refund (as per 3.2 above), the Discount shall be paid on or before 30 September 2025.
- Any Discount paid as a refund (as per 3.2 above) will be made to the original source (i.e. to the account from which the money was sent). This ensures compliance with UK guidelines and money laundering regulations. Any request for a refund payment to be made to a third party bank account will be declined.
- If the source bank account has subsequently been closed, a copy of the final bank statement indicating ‘account closed’ or a letter from the bank confirming the closure of account will be required. Once paperwork is received by the University, it shall take up to a further 28 calendar days to verify and process relevant paperwork. Where the source bank account has been closed, the refund will be paid in accordance with the University’s Student Refund and Compensation Policy.

The Discount will only be made available where all of the following conditions and criteria are met:
- The student must be a full-time registered student of the University of Hertfordshire.
