Herts Security Team on campus
The University employs a team of qualified, SIA licenced and DBS-certified security officers to help maintain a safe environment for students and staff. The team also provides protection for students’ and the University’s buildings, equipment and belongings.
The team of 22 officers patrol all areas of both our campuses throughout the day and night and are supported by the security department’s 24-hour manned control room and a network of over 800 security cameras. Recent on-campus safety initiatives have included bike security, personal safety and travel security.
The security team have introduced additional ‘pop-up’ check points to help deter non-authorised people from gaining access to our campuses. Officers hold Hertfordshire Police Accreditation giving them more legal powers to ask for personal information such as name and address to help protect our community.
Our security team wear a uniform and carry ID to make them easily identifiable. Please help them to keep our community safe by following their requests and instructions when asked.
