This animation displays the normalised Wigner flow J(t)/|J (t)| over time overlayed over a colour-coded animation of the time evolution of the Wigner function, compare Fig. 3 of the manuscript.
Wigner flow animation 2
This animation displays the normalised Wigner flow J(t)/|J (t)| over time using a fixed integration loop in yellow. Superimposed is a blue-yellow textured loop that is displaced (by a small constant amount) from the yellow integration loop in the direction of the local normalised flow. This displaced loop allows us to visualise the flow dynamics on the loop. It develops strong kinks whenever the flow direction locally varies strongly due to the close proximity of a stagnation point. The region portrayed is near the maximum of the double well potential and time runs over one full period (t = 0, ..., T ). The video illustrates the movement of the separatrix intersection when a vortex arrives from above, compare Fig. 4 of the manuscript. You can see how the winding number jumps when stagnation points pass the loop.

This animation displays the normalised Wigner flow J(t)/|J (t)| over time (roughly 1/5 of a full period T) using a fixed integration loop in yellow. Superimposed is a blue-yellow textured loop that is displaced (by a small constant amount) from the yellow integration loop in the direction of the local normalised flow. This displaced loop allows us to visualise the flow dynamics on the loop. It develops strong kinks whenever the flow direction locally varies strongly due to the close proximity of a stagnation point. The region portrayed is in the area where the torus with total winding number zero forms. Compare Fig. 4 of the manuscript.
