Particle instruments and diagnostics (PID)
Airborne particle analysis instruments
We are concerned with the development of instrumentation and techniques for the detection, monitoring, characterisation, and analysis of airborne particulates in atmospheric, environmental, and security fields.
Over the past decade, this work has been supported with grants totalling more than £6.2 million from sponsors including the EPSRC, NERC, Leverhulme Trust, DSTL, the US National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research, Germany, and commercial companies in the UK, USA, and Europe. The activities have resulted in world-wide patents for particle monitoring and characterisation systems and have led to several commercial particle monitoring instrument systems.
