The Centre for Research in Mechanisms of Disease and Drug Discovery has a focus on fundamental life sciences applied to the understanding of human health and disease, and the development of novel therapeutic approaches with potential to translate to the clinical setting.

The Centre provides a vibrant, multidisciplinary environment that brings together scientific researchers with expertise in the biological, pharmacological and chemical sciences, to develop novel approaches to tackling some of the major global health and therapeutic challenges.

Research covers a broad range of health-related areas, including genetic  diseases, mechanisms of cancer and targets for novel therapies, infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, and chronic, inflammatory and neurodegenerative conditions.
