Project outline

Successful applicants will join the Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (MTP) research group.

Subject areas covered by our group include scattering amplitudes in gauge theories, supergravity and generalised geometry, higher and homotopy algebras in quantum field theory, quantum groups and representation theory, classical and quantum integrable models, topological algebra, and related topics.

Faculty members of the MTP research group are: Luigi Alfonsi, Leron Borsten, Severin Bunk, Catarina Carvalho, Livia Ferro, Hyungrok Kim, Tomasz Lukowski, Vidas Regelskis, Yann Peresse, Charles Strickland-Constable, and Charles Young.

Entry requirements

Candidates should hold or expect to obtain a good first degree in mathematics, physics or a closely related subject. A masters' degree may be desirable. The University also expects international applicants to have an IELTS (English proficiency) score of normally 6.5 or above.

Eligibility and Funding information

These studentships are open to both UK and international candidates. They are normally awarded for three years and six months, and cover both the fees and an annual stipend of around £19,237.
