HertSquad is all about getting everybody involved. Whether you are a beginner or a hardcore competitor, there's a programme for you.

HertSquad Performance Sport

The University competes at performance level in American football, basketball, netball and women’s football. Athletes selected into these performance programmes have first class support services and coaching available to them during their time at Herts. Scholarship opportunities are available for talented athletes willing to compete for the university in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competition.

HertSquad Athletic Union

Our sports teams have a strong history in competition and club members wear their purple with pride. If you have a passion for a sport and like to compete, Club Sport is where you’ll be at home, representing Herts to compete against other universities and clubs across the country.

There are BUCS leagues, or regional and national competitions. But whatever the sport and whoever the opponent, there’s always the drive to win #goherts

HertSquad Athletic Union has 28 sports clubs to choose from, whether you're an elite athlete or looking to try something completely new.

HertSquad Campus Sport

If you like your sport competitive but want to keep it on campus then Campus Sport is for you. It’s not just getting involved. It’s sport for those with a hunger to compete. There are competitive leagues and regular one-off competitive tournaments in a range of sports. Friends, house mates and course mates beware!

HertSquad Campus Sport runs throughout the academic year, including weekly football and netball leagues as well as regular one off competitive tournaments in a range of different sports.

Check out one of our ‘Get Involved’ sessions. These happen before the leagues start and are perfect for students who are looking to join and for captains looking to recruit. Anyone, irrespective of ability, can take part so round up your mates and get involved!

HertSquad Active Students

Active Students is so much more than traditional sport. It’s a great way for you to meet new people. It’s about experiencing something for the first time. And definitely about having fun while staying healthy. All activities are free and you can turn up when you want – no sign up, no commitment, no cost.

So if you want a break from studying, want to see what’s going on around the place or want to meet some new people, check out activestudents.co.uk, visit our social channels or just bring your student ID down to a session and get stuck in - there's no need to sign-up.
