How to apply
On Monday 31 March the University introduced a new application portal. If you have previously applied for a vacancy with the University, your login details will no longer work and you will need to register for a new applicant account to apply for any new vacancies.
Applications submitted to the old portal (before Sunday 23 March 2025) will continue to be processed and shortlisted as normal. If you want access to any old applications from the previous system, please contact jobs@herts.ac.uk confirming your name and applicant number.
The application process
To apply for a job at the University you will need to complete and submit an online application for the specific job you are interested in, using our online job application portal.
You’ll find a link to our application portal within each job advertisement.
We’re not able to accept CVs or speculative applications (although you can attach your CV to your application if you wish – see below ‘Completing the online form’).

Equal opportunities
As an equal opportunities employer, we aim to ensure that all applicants and employees are treated fairly, and we encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply and work with us. Our anonymous shortlisting process supports this by aiming to eliminate bias by removing any personal identifying information from the application form.
We are committed to disability equality and are a Disability Confident Employer, a scheme that ensures barriers to the recruitment of disabled people are minimised. All disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for a post are offered an interview through the Guaranteed Interview Scheme. Please indicate any special requirements or adjustments required at interview, on your application form.
We facilitate robust training for our recruiting staff, encourage staff to embed positive action statements in job adverts and put in place diverse recruiting panels to ensure our recruitment and selection process is fully inclusive and free from unconscious bias.
Please indicate any special requirements or adjustments required at interview, on your application form.
