International and relocating staff

We believe that the inclusion of different voices and unique perspectives is what makes our community thrive. And so we are proud to have a diverse staff community at our vibrant, campus-based university, with members of staff from all over the world.

Applications from international staff are always welcome and encouraged, but please make sure you have permission to work in the UK before you start a job at the University. Only in very exceptional circumstances will the University be able to apply for a work visa for a new member of staff. If you have further queries about this please contact us.

Banking

The University of Hertfordshire has a cash point on each campus. There are also several major high street banks in Hatfield, which all offer a wide range of services.

Childcare and schooling

If you are a parent working at the University of Hertfordshire, our on-campus University Day Nursery provides childcare for children aged between three months and five years.

There are other childcare providers in the area that are independent of the University. The Hertfordshire County Council website also has a directory of local childcare providers and schools to help you decide which is the most appropriate for your circumstances.

Religion

The University of Hertfordshire welcomes staff from all faiths, and our Chaplaincy team supports staff and students of all faiths and none.

The Key, our multi-faith and multi-cultural chaplaincy, is located on the College Lane campus and has its own Muslim prayer facilities. Our Multi Faith Space in our de Havilland campus offers a screened area for discreet prayer and meditation as well as a social space.

Hertfordshire is the county of opportunity and there is a wide range of activities in the local community that you can take part in, from arts and culture to music and comedy festivals to a whole host of sports and leisure activities!
