What is Clearing?

Clearing is your chance to apply for a course with available spaces if you don't already have a university offer. There are many routes to Clearing. Check out these student experiences to learn more

We understand that Clearing can be a bit daunting so we’re here to help answer your most frequently asked questions.

View our course pages to learn more about entry requirements. But remember, during Clearing we're able to take a flexible approach to admissions, considering each application on an individual basis.

Once you receive an offer from us, we'll email you with the next steps on how to accept it. We recommend choosing Herts as your UCAS Clearing choice as soon as possible to secure your place and proceed with your accommodation application. If you do not select us as your Clearing choice before the deadline stipulated in your offer email, it may result in us being unable to confirm your place.

Absolutely! You can still submit an application for on-campus accommodation if you apply through Clearing.

We offer a range of non-repayable scholarships that celebrate academic achievements and your unique talents.

If you have any questions around Clearing, you can you can contact our team.

You'll receive an email from us within 48 hours of submitting your application, but it could be sooner. Make sure to add ask@herts.ac.uk to your contact list to prevent emails from being flagged by spam filters or ending up in your junk folder.

Once Clearing opens, courses that are in Clearing will be clearly identified on the subject and course pages on our website. You can also sign up to receive an email notification once our Clearing courses are released.

You can still apply for Student Finance to fund the course if you apply through Clearing. Find out more information and how to apply for Student Finance via the gov.uk website.
