eduroam service

Network access

eduroam is an international federation of academic institutions which allows its users to obtain wireless Internet connectivity across campus and also when visiting other participating institutions.

We participate in the eduroam service which allows students and staff from any of the eduroam participating institutions to use their own University computing login details to gain network access at both their home University, and when visiting another member institution.

eduroam is the European equivalent of the UK JANET Roaming Service project.

Users have to abide by restrictions applied by the home site and by JANET, including Acceptable Use Policies, Computing Regulations and Disciplinary Codes.

Visitors to the University

  • check the list of eduroam participating institutions to see whether your home institution is a member of the scheme
  • follow the eduroam set-up instructions provided by your home institution, and ensure that your own home site setting is correctly setup and working before you arrive at the University of Hertfordshire
  • your device should then connect automatically via eduroam when you visit.
