We’re thrilled to team up again with the award-winning children’s illustrator and author James Mayhew for a real Christmas treat for the whole family!

  • Mendelssohn – The Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave)
  • Debussy – The Sunken Cathedral (arrangement Peter Lawson)
  • Rimsky-Korsakov – Sadko Op. 5
  • Wagner – The Flying Dutchman

As the orchestra plays the fabulous sea-themed favourites by Mendelssohn, Debussy, Wagner and Rimsky-Korsakov, Mayhew paints his illustrations live on stage, in perfect synchronicity with the music – his paintings projected onto a big screen for all to enjoy.

Come and be swept away in this swashbuckling concert! The tales of ghostly pirates, sunken cities, minstrels, and mermaids are guaranteed to enchant and delight.

Please note that there will be two 60-minute performances on the day, one starting at 14:00 and one at 16:00. Please choose your preferred time from the dropdown menu when booking.

For events taking place at the Weston Auditorium, Bar Ambition is the place to go for food and drink. We strongly advise pre-ordering any refreshments to avoid a delay in the interval. Click here to find out more.
