David Parsons was, until recently, Director of the Institute of Name-Studies at the University of Nottingham, and is now Senior Research Fellow at the University of Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Research.

He is Deputy Director of the Survey of English Place-Names, and the Survey's editor for Suffolk.

Jane Pearson taught local and social history at the University of Essex. She has published papers on Essex local history and is preparing a medical history of Colchester.

Judith Pettigrew is a social anthropologist and an occupational therapist with a PhD from the University of Cambridge. She is a senior lecturer in the Department of Clinical Therapies at the University of Limerick.

Toby Pillatt is a Research Associate in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Sheffield with a particular interest in human relationships with the natural world.

Karen Pine is Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire and also Professor in the School of Applied Sciences at Istanbul Bilgi University.



Dr Jenny Plastow teaches on EdD and MA programmes at the University of Hertfordshire and has published articles on primary teaching and literacy, and on Modernist Literature and gender studies.

She has worked extensively in practical theatre and Shakespeare, and writes stage and radio plays for children and adults.

Jo Plimmer is a freelance project coordinator with twenty years’ experience in arts administration.

Vesselin Popov is a research fellow at the University of St Andrews.

Hugh Prince was Reader Emeritus and Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Geography at University College London. He passed away in 2013.

Edward Proctor has a background in South Asian studies and languages.

A diploma from the Central Institute of Hindi in New Delhi was followed by a BA in Anthropology from Duke University, an MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies at London University and further postgraduate study at the University of Chicago.

He also has a Masters in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is currently an Electronic Resources Librarian and Associate Professor.

He speaks six different Gypsy dialects as well as several other languages.

Dr Anne Punter was the Head of Initial Teacher Education Development and Partnership in the School of Education at the University of Hertfordshire.

As such, she co-ordinated the training and assessment of trainee teachers on placements in schools, as well as facilitating the continuing professional development of many other qualified teachers.

Grattan Puxon is a journalist who helped found the Gypsy Council in Great Britain and later became Secretary of the International Romany Union.
