Although much of the process is automated, there may be occasions where you need more control over your recordings. The following guides are designed to cover the most common recording management scenarios.

Software Licences

The University site licence means that Panopto is available to all academic staff as ‘creators’ and students as ‘viewers. Panopto is available as a desktop application (see the Software Centre), and also as an app you can download to your tablet device or mobile phone.

Integrations

Panopto is integrated with Canvas LMS and Zoom Meetings within Canvas. There are links to Panopto within each module on Canvas (Under Studynet Tools). Meetings organised in Zoom through Canvas are automatically pushed to the module folder in Panopto 24 hours after recording. Teams’ meetings and other video content can be uploaded to the module site via the “Studynet Tools” link from the navigation bar.

Accessibility

Panopto is WCAG 2.1 level AA compliant, for more information please see Panopto's Accessibility Conformance Report (WCAG Edition). One of its key accessibility features is its ability to automatically generate captions. Whilst this is a valuable feature and has improved in recent years, the accuracy of these can still vary depending on a number of factors including audio quality, pace, accent etc. Please refer to the Good practice and guidance for making recordings more accessible.
